Blog #4

The theme that I learned from my story would be something along the lines of.."Thinking of others is not always beneficial". The two boys in my book, Soldier Boys were both always thinking of other people. Dieter (Germany) was always thinking about his little army and trying to do EVERYTHING that he could in order to teach his army well/ keep them safe. This backfired on Dieter because when Schaefer came in, he had to yell at Dieter in order to put him in his place. Schaefer had to explain that in war, you have to be thinking about what  YOUR doing next, not what your team is doing. On the other hand, Spence (American) DIED thinking/ saving someone else. That someone else happened to be Dieter. Dieter got shot within less than feet from Spence. While Dieter was basically laying on his death bed Spence came over to save the day. Keep in mind, Dieter is a German, and Spence is an American. That shows how sincere Spence was.

BLOG #3

I would like to know the character Spence, from the book Soldier Boys because he fights for America, he loves his family, and because he is very brave. Spence decided to go into the army because he wanted to fight for his country, and he felt like it was his duty to. There is not one day that Spence is not thinking about his family, praying that they are ok and that he will be ok so that they can see him again. In fact, leaving his family has been the hardest part for Spence through the war journey. He has thrown up, passed out, almost gotten blown up, and his toes were close to turning numb because it is so cold. Even through this, he is still think of his family. Spence is very brave because he knows that he has a VERY high chance of getting killed in war becuase he is so young, but he still wants to do it. Spence realizes that there are more cons then pros in this situation, yet he still goes for it. Spence is an over all a good person and these are the reasons why I would love to meet him.

BLOG #2

My favorite character would have to be Tricia from the book, House Party. She is my favorite character because in the beginning of the book, she is very shy and timid and lets people run over her. In the beginning of the book she also doesn't tell her parents many things and tells a lie or two every once in a while. But as the book goes on it shows Trisha becoming a young adult and actually caring about how people treat her. When Trisha was shy she would to close to anything in order to get friends, so she let a girl throw a party in her house. With NO parents home, and NO parents even knowing about it. All because she wanted to fit in. Things get broken, lost, and disrespected, so Trisha snaps. Trisha tells the girl that she can't just invite people into her home and let them disprespect her belongings..Trisha's parents eventually find out and Trisha is not caught in a lie. She comes out, tells the truth, and takes the punishment like a responsible young adult should.

1: My favorite book is Thirteen Reasons Why.  This is my favorite book because it is very suspenseful.

3: I am currently reading the book House Party.  This book is about a girl named Caroline who’s parents are going away. When her parents go away they think that their daughter, Caroline, is staying at her friend Trisha’s house. But Trisha decides to make the option of staying at Caroline’s house even though her parents aren’t home. The girls decide to throw a “small” party because the parents are gone.  The small party turns into a big one and things get broken, mis-placed, and the cops get called. The cops have to call a guardian so they call Trisha’s mom. Trisha’s mom is angry, but more upset because she can’t trust her daughter anymore. When Caroline’s parents get home she has a hard time talking to them and telling the truth, so she stalls for a little bit until the parents come in the house. They notice all of the holes in the wall and that there are things missing and they think that there was a break in and get worried. That’s when Caroline has to explain. Caroline’s tells her parents that they had a house party but they didn’t mean for it to get this out of hand, or for there to be that many people.
